I am first and foremost God’s daughter, and that is enough. Who I am is vastly more important than what I do. However just as faith without works is dead, my faith would be dead if I did nothing with it. I believe God has gifted every believer with spiritual gifts, and mine is teaching and discernment/knowledge. I acknowledge that apart from Him I have no discernment or knowledge of His word which means I have no claim on my gift. His gifting is solely given by grace and not by any merit of my own. However I also acknowledge that He gives these gifts, not for the benefit of the person (although it definitely benefits me!), but for the edification of His Church. I am to be a good steward of what He’s given me, and so I use this gift in my home and local church. I am a homeschooling mom who teaches the Bible to my children, and I am one of three Bible study teachers in the women’s ministry at my church (http://nwbc.org/brave). I also teach through my blog to the Church at large. 🙂 I have written and co-written Bible studies (none of which are published!), and I speak in our women’s Bible study group. I have done retreats and seminars at my previous church (Immanuel Baptist Shawnee, OK).
